A/C recharge; covered under warranty?
Anybody know if an A/C recharge is covered under the Acura Plus Extended Warranty?
This begs another question, where can I get a detailed report of what exactly is covered under an extended comprehensive warranty?

Dunno, but a small can of R-134a is $12, hardly worth it.

Had I known that, I would have done it myself.
I tell you the best thing to do to piss of a dealership is to get an extended warranty. Yesterday brought my 2000 EL in the dealership a for a few minor problems, one of the them being not as cool a/c, the technician brought out his handy calculator after the test-drive and said "yah your looking at about $1050 to fix these things", I was grinning from ear to ear, then he gave a little grin.
Then i told him, "maybe you should check my file a little more carefully, im covered for another year of all these things" "ahhh oohhhhhhhhhh" he said, recalculated everything on his handy little calculator, "okay $140"
and then I said "THATS RIGHT!!! $140!!" im kidding i didn't say that.
Well it seems that the a/c recharge is not covered under warranty but my i have located the documents for my warranty and its says genuine Acura a/c and components are covered, so Im going to be calling Honda Canada on Monday to see what is going on with this, maybe get reimbursed if it is covered.
Moral of the story ALWAYS BUY EXTENDED WARRANTY. My car has had about $3,500 worth of warranty repairs AFTER the initial 3 years (lots of minor things) and I paid the Acura Plus Comprehensive Warranty (7/160) for $950 way back when I bought the car in 2000.

$140 for an A/C recharge seems a little high. I know this is like comparing apples and oranges, but toyota charges like 89.95 for a toyota sienna (bigger engine = higher price) but the process is basically the same.
that's assuming the only thing not covered is the A/C recharge.

No the recharge of A/C is not on warranty... but:
A few time ago my A/C stop working, I go to the dealer and they told me that they don't have found any leak but I need Freon. They put color in the Freon to see if I have a leak. But they charge me for that and they told me if it's not that they refund. I call Acura and ask if it was on warranty, they told me only if there is a leak??? I ask how can I change the Freon if I don't have any leak, it's a close system!!! He told me that he's not a mechanical, but that the policies of the warranty.
The day after, the A/C still don't work, it was a sensor, they change it but they don't refund me immediately, I have to call a few times and I receive my check.

The guy told me that most automotive AC's using R134a leaks very slowly, in the order of a decade, something about smaller molecules. Think of your tires, most normal ones would lose a psi every few months.
I would assume your warranty would cover a major leakage but nothing that leaks over very slowly.

Flem, thats exactly what they did, put the green dye in. There doesnt seem to be an immediate leak so its seems it just needed be recharged. Cal your comment makes sense, because my a/c was still cold before the recharge but not as cold as I remember it, so it seems I have no leak or a very small one and it just needed a recharge (over the course of 6 years)
Do you know if they have to remove that dye or will it screw up my a/c?
The price was $140 but that included the $25 decductibles for the other two problems as they just grouped the total as one thing.
Those dealers are very sneaky, im telling you do you research before you do anything, everybody wants your money.
